On Oct. 7, Hamas attacked Israel without provocation, thereby committing a war crime. The butchery of this attack on noncombatants is another war crime. The goal of Hamas is identical to the goal of the Nazis: the complete elimination of the Jews.

Israel is now conducting a war against Hamas with the goal of removing it from the Gaza Strip so it can never again attack Israel and Israel’s citizens. Israel is doing what the U.S. did to Japan following that country’s attack on Pearl Harbor, but with two differences: We were infinitely more violent in our response, and we did not pause our attacks.

What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken should drop all ideas of forcing Israel to pause its attacks on Hamas.

Gen. Douglas MacArthur was absolutely correct: “In war, there is no substitute for victory.”
