A high school senior in Georgia was left comatose after a freak accident inside a batting cage.

Jeremy Medina, who attends Gainesville High School, was in the batting cages at the school Monday afternoon when he was struck by a baseball bat, the Gainesville City School System posted on X Wednesday.

School officials did not specify how Jeremy, who remains in a coma at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, was hit in the head or the extent of his injuries.

He played both pitcher and catcher during the school’s 2022 baseball season.

Jeremy and his family are firm believers in Jesus Christ and His redemptive love, and are requesting prayer during this extremely difficult time,” the school system said in its post.
