In her announcement that the Georgia prosecution involving former President Donald Trump could run into 2025, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said it was “disappointing” that video clips of statements of some co-defendants provided to prosecutors were leaked to news outlets (“Georgia DA who charged Trump says his trial could stretch past 2024 election, inauguration,” web, Nov. 14).

Disappointing is hardly the right word. How about illegal? And unethical? Those leaks are crimes, and they came from Ms. Willis’ office. Just who is the person ultimately responsible for them? And is Ms. Willis disappointed in those parties?

It is amazing to see the mountain of illegal, unconstitutional and just plain wrong actions being committed daily by the group of city, state and federal prosecutors in total partisan abuse of not only Mr. Trump’s constitutional rights, but all of our rights to a fair judicial system.

Meanwhile, no one in any position of authority has stood up to scream about these abuses. Every judge involved should have dismissed each of the charges for the corrupt judicial abuses they clearly are. State and national bar associations should be shouting to the rooftops and investigating the lawyers and judges involved. Instead, we just move merrily along as if these unprecedented legal actions against the GOP’s runaway favorite for president in the 2024 election are totally allowable.

If Nero were alive today, he would be playing that fiddle loud and clear. The result for us all likely be the same the Romans experienced way back then.
