A Kansas woman in Montana’s Glacier National Park fell off a rocky overhang into a creek before being swept into a gorge and subsequently dying Monday.
Atheer Alqahtani, 28, was spotted in Avalanche Creek by bystanders, who waded in, got her out and began CPR while waiting for rangers and emergency personnel.
Alqahtani was later pronounced dead at the scene and was transferred to the Buffalo Hill funeral facility in Kalispell, Montana, according to the local Daily Inter Lake newspaper.
“The park extends their deepest condolences to the family and friends,” Glacier National Park said in a statement.
