OPINION:
With Chinese Communist Party Chairman Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia to meet with war criminal Vladimir Putin, a modern-day axis of evil is shown to the world (“Putin welcomes China’s Xi to Kremlin amid Ukraine fighting,” web, March 20).
The joining together of these two malevolent powers sends a powerful signal of the importance of our alliance with European democracies and NATO. It also shows how critical it is that we neither accept nor whitewash the naked aggression currently being perpetrated in Ukraine by Mr. Putin and likely soon against our ally, Taiwan, by Mr. Xi.
Any isolationist bent that our country would embark upon could be catastrophic. Unification of the forces of democracy has never been more important.
