OPINION:
Aristotle said that man’s worst failing is his singular pursuit of pleasure, often to his detriment.
One needn’t look far to see proof of his observation: massive numbers of drug-related deaths, millions of fatherless children, etc.
Our nihilistic education system has rejected Aristotle’s wisdom and now suggests the self-restraint of Socratic philosophy and Judeo-Christian ethics are “repressive,” because they are harmful to one’s pursuit of happiness.
Those purporting to be wise now recommend an “if it feels good, do it” approach to life.
The results of this philosophy are seen in poverty, homelessness, and the increasing production of societal drones.
Politicians who would legalize and facilitate the use of drugs (including heroin) are endorsing this attitude.
Where is the mainstream media on these issues?
