OPINION:
We’re watching the heart of this country get torn apart by two ideologies: secular and religious (“Amid America’s moral meltdown, this development should terrify progressives,” web, June 15).
Based on your article, it appears many in the U.S. share similar views. There was good reason our Founding Fathers used religious values to establish our country. Unfortunately, our society thinks religious and secular ideologies can coexist, but as my football coach used to remind us, there is only one starting quarterback and one head coach.
Secularism is based on trends and freedom of expression; it has no moral values at its foundation. Religion is based on historical facts that include morality concepts. Secularism deliberately misleads with words such as equality, equity, inclusion and diversity. Religion accepts that there can only be one supreme leaders, but the secular perspective seeks to create confusion on this point to advance its cause.Â
A recent Gallup Poll found that 54% of adults believe moral values in this country are poor. And there are higher rates of depression among people ages 15 to 24.
Why is this? Whenever I speak to youth, it seems they hold little optimism for their future, and I believe one main reason is that secular ideology has not delivered on its promises.
Our society has to decide on the best course of action to stop the destruction of the nation’s core values. How do we move forward together?
If we refuse, morality will continue to decline; there will be no peace of mind — only cries of desperation.
