Next month, we mark the second anniversary of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the senseless sacrifice of 13 U.S. military personnel. We wonder whether the Biden administration learned anything at all from its abandonment of civilians, Afghan friendlies and massive American military assets, not to mention Bagram Airfield.

History is replete with stories about decisions that resulted in tragic consequences for military forces. Pickett’s charge on the last day of the Battle of Gettysburg and the landings at Gallipoli in World War I are just two that come to mind.

These weren’t, however, poorly conceived plans by incompetent leaders, as we find in the Biden administration — an administration more concerned with social re-engineering than with military preparedness to win wars.

How could they possibly think combat readiness is maintained by paid abortion services, as stated last week by White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby?

Sen. Tommy Tuberville is courageously standing for all American taxpayers to prevent President Biden’s plan to allow up to three weeks’ paid time off for the military members and their families who elect to have abortions.

If they choose this unfortunate option, it should be their own responsibility.

And what about Mr. Biden’s call to activate 3,000 reservists for duty in Europe, as reported in The Washington Times this month? Meanwhile, as evidenced last week in Defense Department documents, the administration is excusing transgender military members from deployments while in transition therapy.

Mr. Biden’s ill-conceived military experiments must be stopped. Thank God for the Republican leaders attempting to rein in this administration’s “woke” policies with National Defense Authorization Act amendments.

We can only pray their efforts are successful.
