When did ideology replace unbiased news as the media’s mission?

Not that long ago, journalism based on facts flourished. A crime or injustice would be investigated, substantiated and then reported.

Facts were the cornerstone of reports, and we never doubted these reports’ veracity.

No more.

What’s worse is that stories that should be reported aren’t. If something is significant and of importance to the public but does not reflect the narrative of a particular paper, magazine or network, it is simply not reported.

It has become the media’s role to only give us information that promotes an outlet owner’s ideology, which is almost always “progressive.”

Likewise, social media has become biased to the point of platforms openly suppressing or promoting topics. Free speech — a constitutional right — is thus infringed, yet few seem outraged.

When a leftist media is this closely aligned with a leftist, in-power political party, the public is denied opposing views and facts.

If our democracy is at risk, it’s because of a biased media and the powerful few who own them.
