A woman died Friday in Atlanta after her car was launched into a wall after it hit an empty utility truck parked on the shoulder of Interstate 20.
The crash occurred sometime after 4 a.m. The woman, driving a white sedan, merged onto the highway going west out of the right lane.
She veered onto the shoulder and struck the truck, the Atlanta Police Department said in a release.
The truck’s occupants were doing utility work on lights when the crash occurred, and neither of the two workers was harmed.
The sedan then crossed the interstate, slamming into a wall on the left side of the road before the car came to a rest.Â
Atlanta EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene, police said.
Westbound I-20 was partially shut down for hours as responders investigated the crash.Â
