Congress, do your job

OPINION:

Speaker McCarthy must bring the House of Representatives back from vacation due to the lack of progress made on individual agency budgets. The debt ceiling is real and the budgets must be accomplished prior to Oct. 1, the start of the new fiscal year. We do not want a continuing resolution. The Republican Party has promised not to do omnibus spending bills and to get federal spending under control. Time is running out for Congress to do its one real job: pass a budget so the federal government can operate efficiently. 

The Republican-led House Budget Committee is expected to cut $150 billion in non-defense discretionary programs for 2024. This would reset spending to fiscal 2022 levels and save $1.5 trillion over a decade by holding spending increases to an annual 1%. Where is the priority to use the “power of the purse” to get spending back under control and defund Biden’s agenda against American citizens?

The Democrats want an omnibus spending bill consisting of all 12 fiscal year appropriations bills, since this hides the real spending of each agency. This White House funding package includes agency bloated spending, emergency supplemental funding for illegals and natural disasters, along with emergency resources to support the Ukrainian war and climate-change issues.

Speaker McCarthy, bring the House back to do its work and stop the outrageous spending and woke policies of the Biden administration. Stop the spending on illegal aliens and secure our borders. Do the job we put you there to do.
