I’m fed up with listening to President Biden’s nasty comments about Donald Trump supporters. I know I don’t have to respond to the ignorant but in this case I will make an exception.

As an independent voter, I find nothing more annoying than listening to a person who is supposed to represent “the people” lump everyone into one category, calling us names and belittling us.

Mr. President, you have called Trump supporters semi-fascists, hateful extremists and a threat to democracy — so I have to ask, if I’m so despicable, where were you when I was fighting for my country? I didn’t see you by my side in a foxhole next to me, bleeding from your wounds. I didn’t see you lying in a bed next to me, being moved from one hospital to another for a year. I didn’t hear about how you fought with the Veterans Administration for years to get a 100% disability rating after being sent to Vietnam in severe pain in an unfit condition with two ruptured discs in your back.

I was wounded five times in combat up in the demilitarized zone and was sent down south to recuperate. Then I was returned to combat in such severe pain I was unable to walk.

Ten months of sick-call documents with complaints of pain were removed from my file to hide negligence and malpractice prior to my being sent to Vietnam, which ultimately left me paralyzed for life. To add insult to injury I was robbed of my medals and honors.

So Mr. President, you don’t get to call me a semi-fascist and expect me to stand by and say nothing. Using Trump supporters as pawns against your political opposition is intolerable, and the path you’ve taken to socialism goes against everything we fought against.

I and my brothers in arms, who sacrificed everything for our country, deserve an apology.
