When I launched my campaign to represent Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District, I understood this would be no ordinary race on who had the better ideas, the Republican, or the Democrat. This would be a referendum on crazy versus normal and I would be the candidate defending normal.

I benefitted enormously from “normal.”  The first in my family to attend college, and the grandson of poor sharecroppers, my story is the very embodiment of the American dream. I will fight to the end to make sure that dream is available to future generations.

Today, our country is barely recognizable. We’ve become a nation being torn apart by a divisive, radicalized, crazy reality where gas prices could soon climb to seven dollars a gallon, inflation is costing the average household an extra $11,500 a year, and violent criminals roam the streets because we have defunded our police departments and deem incarceration as oppressive.

We are now told there are multiple genders, not two, a biological reality shared by every culture on earth for millennia. The craziness has threatened the safety of girls and young women who have been sexually assaulted in restrooms or who’ve been knocked nearly unconscious during a “girls” volleyball game.

None of this is normal.  We must elect people who understand we cannot cower to this indoctrination of the left. I will join other common-sense members of Congress to support energy independence, and back our great law enforcement. I will fight for parental rights, making sure they are in charge of their children’s education.

This is no longer the 1990s when Democrats wanted to raise taxes by 2 percent and Republicans wanted to reduce them by that amount. Those days are long gone. So are the days of the  JFK democrat, who reduced taxes, and the days of Bill Clinton, who passed federal legislation to crack down on illegal immigration. The Democratic Party is now led by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, AOC, Rashada Talib, and Bernie Sanders, an avowed Socialist.

My opponent presents herself as a moderate but actions speak louder than marketing. Scholten has personally contributed to defund the police groups, has campaigned with champions of cashless bail, and said “we need to act with “urgency” to address climate change, had Pete Buttigieg stump for her, and refused to answer whether she was against tax-funded late-term abortions. She is an immigration attorney who lobbied against a state ban on sanctuary cities and worked with activists to make her own county one. These are the same policies that are causing the record-setting chaos we’re seeing at the border today under Joe Biden.

Scholten claims she will stand up to the spending spree in Congress, but does anyone really think she’ll have leverage after getting a $30,000 check to her campaign from Nancy Pelosi?

My story is different. I was born and raised in Michigan, and, thanks to the goodness of God and my parents, I was able to earn a degree in Computer Science at Stanford University. I graduated and began working in Silicon Valley. I felt called to serve as a Christian missionary in Japan, so I spent seven years there. After making a difference in the lives of Japanese families with God’s help, I returned to America with the deep desire to change my own country and earned my master’s in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. I then joined the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), serving for nearly four years under Dr. Ben Carson.

My grandparents were sharecroppers in Alabama. Never did they think just two generations later they’d have a twice college-educated grandson, let alone a grandson running for Congress.

This Tuesday, when you go to the polls, I ask you think about the kind of life you want for your family. I will always fight for border security, reduce the flow of illegal immigration and the flow of dangerous narcotics into our communities, and make sure our children are left with a better life than we had.

Vote for commonsense candidates, like myself, who will support rational policies that protect our families and promote prosperity in our country.
