The current baby formula crisis didn’t have to happen (“Federal proble launched into baby formula crisis,” Web, May 24). A whistleblower alerted administration officials last October. The Food and Drug Administration was even more aware of the situation when it shut down the Michigan plant in February.

Yet here we are. Babies are suffering and mothers are scrambling to find formula. It seems a crisis must always happen before President Biden reacts. He is always late to the fire. And then he and his administration typically resort to the blame game.

Let’s all help out our neighbors and friends with this critical situation until sufficient baby formula is restored to the shelves.
