The issue is not whether Russian President Vladimir Putin uses chemical, biological or battlefield nukes. The issue is what happens if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy or his wife and children are assassinated. Mr. Putin already dispatched one killer team that was neutralized. More are coming or are already in Ukraine, waiting.

Saddam Hussein, in a fit of pique, sent a killer team to target then President George W. Bush. When Mr. Bush became president, the U.S. invaded Iraq, and after the U.S. military found Hussein hiding in a hole, he was hanged.

Win or lose, Mr. Putin has to kill Mr. Zelenskyy because Mr. Zelenskyy represents a movement that wants freedom and representative government. Remember Solidarity and the shipyard strikes in Gdansk in 1980? Lech Walesa and the Polish people threw off the yokes of Russian tyranny to become an economic powerhouse and a NATO member. Mr. Zelenskyy is Mr. Walesa on steroids.

The Russian military does not want to fight those it considers compatriots, so pathological Mr. Putin resorts to terror killing of innocent civilians. And the West stands by, as it did in pre-World-War-II Europe.

It has been said President Biden wants to be another FDR. FDR saw evil and gave his health and life to destroy it.
