OPINION:
President Biden has nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, a devious political move that could potentially damage our nation for years to come. Judge Jackson is an unqualified Trump hater, a Biden lover and radical who has a “soft-on-crime” portfolio.
Republicans should energetically but respectfully challenge Judge Jackson’s nomination based on the evidence: of her record and her own words. The fact that she is a woman and Black is immaterial. If qualifications don’t matter anymore when it comes to the highest judicial position in the United States, we have indeed reached the point of no return.
Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says he is uncertain how he will vote. Really! Mr. McConnell attacked the Tea Party, former President Donald Trump and Trump supporters with unbridled enthusiasm. He has set forth no detailed Republican platform even though the midterms are around the corner. As a leader of the party he is like a ship with no rudder, always at the mercy of the prevailing winds.
Now is the time for the Republicans to fight the Democrats, not appease them. If any Republican breaks ranks and vote with the Democrats on this nomination, it will negatively affect our midterm elections. Senators took an oath to protect our Constitution. They must now prove to us they meant it.
