OPINION:
Clean energy’s flaw in the plan is that wind and solar deliver their goals, but nothing else. Achieving perfection is the objective of the zealot. The big ’green’ falsehood is that a barrel of petroleum provides a barrel of gasoline. Hidden is the fact that only 20% of that barrel is made into gasoline. The other 80% makes byproducts, many of which are plastics and polyesters that compose nearly all the disposables used in our hospitals to maintain high states of sterility.
Besides, what working man is going to buy an electric car that requires hours charging every 100 miles, taking away from his family’s precious vacation time and requiring a room at a hotel to boot?
A year or two before he passed oil magnate T. Boone Pickens remarked that his sinking a billion dollars into wind energy was the biggest investment mistake he ever made. When he made the investment he’d apparently lost sight of the fact that no marketable byproducts are produced by windmills.
