OPINION:
As the Jan. 6 committee hearings drone on about whether the protest on the Capitol was an insurrection, as one of the two-thirds of Republicans who believe the 2020 election was rigged, I have a public challenge to the Democratic Party: If you want to prove there was an insurrection, first prove to me the 2020 election was legitimate (“Jan. 6 select committee degenerates into a racket,” Web, June 29).
Prove to me that President Biden — a lifelong corrupt politician who barely bothered to campaign — got more votes than the wildly popular former President Barack Obama did in 2008: 69.5 million to (allegedly) 81 million. Prove to me that the mysterious, middle-of-the-night counting shutdown that happened in six swing states won by former President Donald Trump in 2016 was a legitimate occurrence, not some billion-to-one statistical anomaly.
Prove to me that the Democratic Party that spied on Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign and constantly harassed him even before his inauguration (including fabricating the Russia-collusion hoax) had suddenly found religion and decided to play it straight with the 2020 election.
That’s all the Democrats must do to make me believe the 2020 election was 100% legitimate.
Because they obviously can’t, my common sense tells me to not just continue to believe that the election was stolen, but to double down on that belief.
To those who tell me to “get over it; Trump lost,” I say this: No, we all lost the day the Biden administration was falsely inaugurated.
