OPINION:
Even though I have always been pro-choice, I am glad that the Supreme Court justices stood their ground in the face of harassment and intimidation outside of their homes — and even an assassination attempt on Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh (“States divided on abortion restrictions, future uncertain in many places,” Web, June 26). And besides, it isn’t as though abortions are altogether illegal now.
While this does not apply to cases of rape and incest — which only make up about 1.5% of abortions performed — there are numerous contraception methods designed to avoid pregnancy. Perhaps this ruling will be the catapult impelling women to take more responsibility in preventing an unwanted pregnancy.
