Is it too simplistic to suggest that the vast divide in our country can be largely explained by whom or what we worship: God or government? Put another way, in whom do we have faith?

Starting at the top of our government, the president is clearly incompetent, bungling and unfit for his job. The vice president’s clumsy ineptness is revealed by the word salad she uses in response to simple questions. The energy secretary laughed at a question about boosting America’s domestic oil production, calling it hilarious. The secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, in addition to allowing 2.4 million illegal aliens to cross our southern border, is now trying to establish the much-criticized, Orwellian disinformation board.

To paraphrase Victor Davis Hanson, President Biden’s cabinet appointments have translated his incoherent ideology into catastrophic governance. It seems to me that having faith in this odious group of miscreants is a fool’s errand.

I have lost what little faith I had in our federal government, particularly in the executive branch. But I have faith in the God of the Bible. What’s a Christian to do when faced with this quandary? First, work with others to expose the corruption of this venal regime. Second, vote this November to help to stem the damage that has already be done. A Republican-led House and Senate can have the ability to thwart the mischief that this administration has wrought. Third, take part in peaceful civic actions that resist the abhorrent policies of the authorities. Fourth, contact your senator or congressman to express your disapproval.

And the fifth action that the Christian has in his or her arsenal is the most important and powerful: pray, fervently and often. God help us.
