OPINION:
Expect five or six more prime-time dog and pony shows, crafted by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to divert attention from President Biden’s disastrous administration blunders (“House panel star witness William Stepien will not appear Monday,” Web, June 13). The Democrats are beating a dead horse, yet mainstream media persist in mislabeling the events of Jan 6, 2021, as an “insurrection” — despite the fact that they were fought without arms, pitchforks or other paraphernalia needed to topple a government.
That day produced only one direct fatality: that of an unarmed demonstrator, Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, who was carelessly shot by a Capitol police officer. The officer didn’t even get a slap on the wrist for Babbitt’s killing.
This marketing production has banners flying. The left is calling it the “Jan. 6 hearings” so it can be presented as a public service for which the taxpayer must foot the bill. There is no indication the radicals will stop chewing on that bone until they are sure all the marrow has been sucked out.
The moral values of the nation have been shorted by an element in the population that has spread like fungus and shows no signs of stopping. The mentality and mood of the group participating in these hearings have the essence of those who crucified Christ.
Emotion rather than fact brought in leadership of low quality that is deteriorating as we speak. It is a major concern because it is showing the same symptoms as once-great nations that were toppled from within.
