OPINION:
The latest mass shooting shows the insanity of far-left Democratic policies that disarm peaceful people while emboldening the crazies and criminal lawlessness in our country (“Highland Park mayor says the U.S. should reexamine its gun laws, values,” Web, July 5). In 2005, the Supreme Court ruled that the police have no duty under our Constitution to protect individuals from harm. Yet municipal authorities in mostly Democrat-run bastions of misery have repeatedly disarmed peaceful citizens, beguiling everyone with their claims that fewer guns make us safer. This has been proved untrue time and again, and it has discredited the Democratic Party’s promise that government will secure your safety.
I hope the federal courts will take a renewed look at this bogus argument made by the control freaks of government and restore the Second Amendment rights of citizens throughout the land to provide for their own defense. The Democrat-imposed epidemic of deadly mass shootings of unarmed citizens must end now.
