“There is nothing new under the sun” is a sentence found in Ecclesiastes 1:9 in the King James Bible. It is at least 30,000 years old, dating from the time of Solomon. Near the turn of the previous century, George Santayana wrote, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

The consequences of forgetting history have not changed. In the words of Marcus Tullius Cicero, consul of Rome (106-43 BCE): “Never was a government that was not composed of liars, malefactors and thieve” and “Times are bad. Children no longer obey their parents, and everyone is writing a book.”

Sadly, this is often a truly bipartisan effort. Some of the current examples include but are not limited to Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, Kamala Harris, Alejandro Mayorkas, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell and Gavin Newsom.
