The Jan. 6 committee is a taste of the theater of the absurd (“Why the Jan. 6 committee is doomed to fail,” Web, July 20). There is no cross-examination, lest the truth be revealed. It is under the direction of a network executive. Thank goodness there are cable channels not covering this hit job on former President Donald Trump.

Apparently impeachments one and two were insufficient for the Democrats, as was the Mueller trial. Not one of these found grounds for Mr. Trump’s conviction. The script was most likely written by Rep. Adam Shiff, who kept reassuring us about all the evidence he had about in the “Russia collusion” hoax. Of course, he never actually presented it.

The Jan. 6 program has been presented during soap opera hours, which has vastly offended soap opera fans. The most recent hearing took place during prime time. One suggestion for the Democrats: Maybe they should get the writers from “The Young and the Restless” or “The Bold and the Beautiful” to punch up the suspense of their fictional Jan. 6 account. Mr. Schiff needs the help.
