I find it amusing that the “woke” medical community and the gay community are both dancing around the subject of how the majority of monkeypox is transmitted (“LGBT activists demand resources for monkeypox, don’t want officials to stigmatize gay communities,” Web, July 22). It is transmitted mainly through anal sex. That is why over 95% of the cases of monkeypox are among gay men.

The bottom line for both HIV and monkeypox is that if you do not want to contract either disease, you should not engage in this type of intercourse, particularly the unprotected type. And if you are a woman, do not engage in any form of sex with a man who is sleeping with other men.

Another inconvenient fact the media does not want to report is that in many of the monkeypox cases we are seeing, the infected had multiple sexual partners within a matter of hours. In many cases, they could not even identify the partners after the fact. The main purpose of the “get togethers” at which the disease was transmitted was simply to have casual, anonymous liaisons. This is hardly a healthy activity, regardless of one’s gender or sexual orientation.

Rather than allow the “woke” medical community to demand that heterosexuals not say anything that might offend the gay community, medical professionals should be demanding that gay men quit their unhealthy sex practices.
