OPINION:
It’s time to take control of our public universities back from the leftists. This will first be possible with the public universities in conservative states. Even there, ’lefties’ dominate — but this can be changed.
In conservative states, the governor and legislature have the legal authority to take control of the public universities. They can fire the faculty and administration and replace them with conservatives. This would be a real game changer.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is already putting an end to leftist rule in his state’s universities. He’s taking action to end faculty tenure so professors can be fired. He is taking action to end the autonomous governance of universities, just like he ended the autonomous governance of Disney. He’s planning on ending “politicized courses,” too.
Mr. DeSantis is showing us that we don’t have to accept public higher education being run by the political left. We should do this nationally.
