The most impressive athletic feat over the weekend wasn’t Obi Toppin winning the NBA Slam Dunk contest, Austin Cindric finishing first at the Daytona 500 or Stephen Curry splashing 16 3-pointers at the All-Star Game.
Instead, the best athletic performance of the weekend was from Adonis Lattimore, a high school wrestler in Virginia. Lattimore, a senior at Landstown High School who was born without a right leg and a left leg that ends at the middle of his thigh, won a state championship in Virginia’s Class 6 106-pound weight class on Sunday.

“Really if you work hard, you can do anything — even win a state championship without legs,” said Lattimore, who also has just one finger on his right hand, per The Virginian-Pilot.

“He did all the work. I just get to be a part of the journey,” Landstown coach James Sanderlin said, according to The Virginian-Pilot. “It’s an amazing feeling to watch him do it and have the support of the crowd. It was awesome. He’s a hard-working young man. I’m just speechless.”
Lattimore’s accomplishment went viral over the weekend, with sports fans in awe over his skill and determination. The 17-year-old has said he wants to wrestle in college.
“I’ve been dreaming of this since I knew what it was, and to finally have it happen is just — I don’t know how to explain it,” Lattimore said.
