Maryland falls out of men’s top 25 amid three-game skid

The Terrapins are no longer ranked. 

Maryland fell out of the AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll Monday after losing to UCLA on Wednesday to extend its losing streak to three games. The Terrapins were ranked No. 20 in the nation. 

However, Kevin Willard’s squad still received 78 votes — the most of any unranked team — to make the Terrapins the unofficial No. 26 team in the country. 

Maryland (8-3) has lost three straight games since starting the season 8-0 and beating then-No. 16 Illinois. The losing streak includes defeats against Wisconsin (64-59), Tennessee (56-53) and UCLA (87-60) — teams that are now ranked No. 17, No. 13 and No. 8, respectively. 

The Terrapins have a chance to end their skid Thursday against Saint Peter’s. 

Purdue (11-0) remained the No. 1 team in the country with an 11-0 record. UConn (12-0) jumped up to No. 2. Houston (11-1), Kansas (10-1) and Arizona (10-1) rounded out the top five. Virginia fell from No. 2 to No. 6 following a 69-61 loss to Houston last week.
