OPINION:
I extend my thanks and appreciation to Michael McKenna for a truly outstanding column, “Those who think the demise of Christianity doesn’t matter are wrong” (Web, Dec. 7).
Yes, since Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, mankind has had an insatiable desire to be as god. Fortunately, Christianity has long been an antidote to that desire and Western civilization has been the beneficiary of Christianity, as Mr. McKenna describes. But unfortunately, as he also describes, our country and other Western nations are seeing the demise of Christianity.
The result is the elevation of mankind as the god and provider of our rights and privileges. And as Mr. McKenna writes, mankind is proving not to be up to the task.
