In “Bear hunting in Mar-a-Lago” (Web, Aug. 9), Charles Hurt writes, “If you are going to shoot a grizzly bear, you better kill it.”

We, the “New Democratik Partei,” know this. If our latest effort fails to ban former President Donald Trump from public office — as have our best efforts for the past six years — we have a fall-back option. Quickly, before the midterms, we can pass legislation invalidating votes for Mr. Trump unless the voter’s name and Social Security number appear on the ballots. As soon as the president signs it into law, we run ads suggesting what can happen to taxpayers who voted carelessly.

If we can’t (yet) keep deplorables from voting, we can at least make them wish they hadn’t.
