New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ complaint against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for busing migrants here is misplaced (“Texas starts busing illegal immigrants directly to New York,” Web, Aug. 5). Mr. Adams’ beef should be with President Biden for allowing these immigrants to come to the U.S. in the first place.

Why does Texas have more of a responsibility to absorb these immigrants than New York or any other state? Besides, asylum was set up to offer protection for people being persecuted in their homelands. Most of the immigrants admit they’re simply looking for a better life. There are plenty of Americans today who need a better life, but valuable food, shelter and medical resources are being taken up by illegal immigrants. Is that what the government is, kind to immigrants and cruel to its own people?
