OPINION:
Thank goodness the Will Smith slap happened between people of the same race and gender. If two different races and genders had been involved, we would still be raging about it with all the hate we could muster.
“The slap” was simply a matter of comedian telling a joke in poor taste under pressure and another man making a poor, quick violent decision under other pressure. Neither is a good sign for our society.
But while we were laughing and searching for more slap jokes and memes, people were dying in Ukraine and devastating real suffering still engulfed so much of the world. Here’s an idea: Instead of looking for laughs on the internet, why don’t we use our time to donate to the Red Cross or another charity. We’ve had our fun; help someone have life.
