What disgraceful behavior by the South Carolina women’s basketball team at the Final Four match-up against Louisville last week. The team refused to come out of the locker room to stand for the playing of the national anthem before the game.

I am sick of this sort of nonsense from selfish college students who have been given every advantage our society and our colleges have to offer. This includes, of course, huge amounts of scholarship money given just because they can bounce a ball and put it through a hoop. These players are ignoring every sacrifice, including life itself, that American men and women of all races and backgrounds have made for them for generations so they and others might have better lives. Yet they have nothing but an insult for our flag and our anthem.

I am ashamed of what these students are doing, and I reject their bogus and trite explanations. They have been given opportunities that billions of people all over the world would give anything to have and enjoy. They are the privileged elite of the world and somehow fail to see it.

Someday they and many other college students with the same attitude will find themselves looking back on this time, and they will be ashamed. At their next game, I urge them to stand up proudly for America.
