The word “woke” means having an active awareness of systemic injustices and prejudices, especially related to civil and human rights. Well, I may not be woke, but I am awake to the following litany of truisms.

The founding of our country did not begin in 1619 when the first slaves arrived in America, but in 1776 when we signed the Declaration of Independence. There is high crime in many Black communities not because of systemic racism, but largely because of the disintegration of the Black family unit and the absence of fathers. Critical race theory, which identifies white people as the oppressor, is a toxic and erroneous reading of history.

Transgenderism is identified by the American Psychiatric Association as gender dysphoria and should be treated as such rather than be normalized. There are two genders, male and female, and that is it. “Gender fluidity” is a lie (example: LGBT has morphed into LGBTQI+). Words like cisgender and pronouns like “ze” have been introduced to celebrate gender dysphoria and should be rejected out of hand. Teaching sexual orientation to young children is wrong and, frankly, disgusting. Having female athletes compete against male athletes is unfair and destructive.

It is no coincidence that these misguided concepts and beliefs are occurring as we witness the rise of secular humanism in our country. Over 300 years ago, George Washington warned us that it is folly to expect national morality to prevail without religion. We are seeing the bitter fruits of that development now.

I am sick and tired having this nonsense shoved in my face and I know I am not alone. What happened to common sense? The woke crowd is tearing this country apart and it is time we firmly rejected their indoctrination and call it out for what it is: puerile.
