OPINION:
Pinocchio Joe is swamped by the murky Beltway — and so is the land of the free and home of the brave because, as many presidents barely treading mephitic Beltway waters have noted, we only have one president at a time, irrespective of how bad he is (“Biden’s avalanche of problems,” Web, April 19).
But here’s the thing: Not only is multi-challenged President Biden a terrible performer, his political party with only the barest of legislative majorities has decided to govern as though it had achieved a landslide victory in 2020. It seems to believe it can roll over the honorable opposition like the Republican Party is an inapposite obstruction.
If it weren’t for a rogue Democratic senator or two, almost half the population would be ruled by the likes of Lady Pelosi and Master Schumer, who themselves are instructed by “The Squad” and asseverating notables like ranting Sen. Bernie Sanders and smoke-signaling Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
As William Bendix used to say in “The Life of Riley”: “What a revolting development this is.”
