OPINION:
The best way to indoctrinate a population is through its schools and/or its media (“Time to end government’s monopoly on education,” Web, Sept. 20). Today both methods are in use, resulting in at least a generation of students ignorant of not only civics and history but morality as well.
School choice may help, but indoctrination is everywhere, even in the choicest of schools.
Prior to the 1970s, public education worked in our favor, producing the patriotic, moral and educated people necessary for maintaining a democracy. Prior to the ’70s, education was under the jurisdiction of the individual states, and the federal government was not involved. Since that decade, education has gone downhill in effectiveness and uphill in expense (reportedly $15,000 per student per annum).
Public education today produces undereducated, poorly informed minds, which are the perfect medium for further indoctrination by a left-wing press. It is the moral equivalent of poison in the drinking water.
It will take a strong and courageous effort, but the entire Department of Education must be eliminated if we are to save our country from the deliberate and systematic dismantling of everything good in the United States.
The stakes are as high as they can get. The “fundamental transformation of America” is well underway. We can derail it by neutering, with the help of God, the Department of Education.
