OPINION:
Based on “Report sparks debate over bans on critical race theory” (Web, Nov. 9) it appears the supporters of CRT are going to continue knocking on the door of our public education system. It appears their approach is to keep repackaging CRT in order to hide its true intention, which is to undermine and shift the emphasis from academics to socialism.
Now it seems the new package is claiming censorship protections to justify teaching CRT. First, they offered money to school districts for acceptance. Then they denied that it was being offered or implemented, then claims that those who were against it were racist. Now we have the allegations of censorship.
Your article did an excellent job of explaining the opposing views from parents and education experts. It’s obvious that CRT supporters feared backlash if it was introduced with transparency; that’s why implementation was attempted with local school boards, not the federal level. They were hoping to avoid attracting media attention or engaging parents.
A recent report of academic standards highlighted the continued national decline in academic performances. CRT does nothing to improve academic performance in the nation, and as long as indoctrination of these and other socially based agenda exist, the decline will continue. Like a sinking ship, we will reach a point at which we can no longer be recovered. The interesting part will be seeing CRT proponents’ next magic trick.
