In an era where moral absolutes are deemed a vintage of a bygone era, no one seems to know the difference between right and wrong. What America’s military chaplains embraced for generations — the Judeo-Christian ethic — is now verboten (“Army chaplain appeals ’career-ending’ reprimand over transgender troop rules,” Web, May 17).

A decorated U.S. Army chaplain, Maj. Andrew Calvert, “opposed proposed changes to Defense Department rules on transgender troops” and faces an official reprimand, according to The Washington Times. But, as Mr. Calvert’s attorney noted in a letter to the commanding general, there were no charges against uniformed military personnel who marched in a San Diego parade protesting the Trump-era ban in 2019.

I am reminded of the proverb, “Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.” Chaplain Calvert deserves better.
