OPINION:
You know that something is very rotten, food-wise, when not only the American Heart Association (the most corrupt medical institution ever), plus the nutrition departments of Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition starts claiming to have good nutrition as their driver. All of these entities are basically owned by the large food companies.
In the case of the AHA, it is the seed-oil industry, and it goes back to the 1940s. The esteemed experts at the universities are mainly a product of ideology going all the way back to the middle of the 19th century, when the Seventh Day Adventist church was founded. This led to the recommendation of cornflake consumption to stem masterbation, via Harvey Kellogg.
The food these cited experts recommend is factory-farmed, government-subsidized, sugar-, grain- and seed-oil laden, highly processed garbage. The reason they can claim that it is “nutritious” is due to the micronutrients that have been artificially added to the foods they recommend.
At present roughly half the U.S. population is either diabetic or prediabetic, and those statistics ever-increasingly apply to children. The fake COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the effect on children. If Sen. Bernie Sanders actually wanted to help children, he would cancel the USDA food guidelines, which directly ignored the meager scientific evidence over the past 10 years, and at least adopt some kind of review standard, as recommended by the National Academy of Sciences.
Ideology and money have won. The USDA food guidelines are profit- and ideology-driven, and they will provide the basis for the school-lunch/big food boondoggle. The profit is in government-subsidized, highly processed, nutrient-devoid sugar and grain, preserved and held together with seed oils. And yes, you can bet that chicken came from a grain-fed, factory hen, housed shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands of other birds, none of which ever saw the light of day.
You might as well be eating glazed cardboard with antibiotics. The next thing Mr. Sanders will be offering is insulin shots (manufactured in China) after the kids eat this garbage. Big Pharma is licking its chops.
