Leader of Mississippi’s Hancock County schools is retiring

KILN, Miss. (AP) - A superintendent of some schools on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is retiring after 38 years of working in education.

Hancock County School District Superintendent Alan Dedeaux said Tuesday he’s leaving at the end of the school year.

Dedeaux has led the district for the last 13 years, WLOX-TV reported. His retirement is effective June 30.

Dedeaux was born in Hancock County and graduated from Hancock North Central High School. He has served the district as a teacher, coach, bus driver, school administrator and superintendent.
