NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A New London woman was charged with murder on Sunday for allegedly strangling her 4-year-old son, police said.
Tiffany Farrauto was being held on $1 million cash bond, police said in a release.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a woman damaging a car with a bat at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday. While speaking to the car owner, Farrauto, who allegedly had damaged the vehicle, approached the officers and told them she had strangled her son, police said.
When officers went inside Farrauto’s apartment they found an unconscious young child, police said. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In addition to the murder charge, Farrauto, 33, also was charged with criminal mischief and risk of injury to a minor.
It wasn’t immediately known if Farrauto had retained an attorney who could comment on the charges.
An investigation is ongoing.
