WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A 37-year-old Wichita man died Friday when his motorcycle crashed during a police pursuit, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said.

He was identified Friday afternoon as Timothy A. Tatum, of Wichita.

A deputy tried to stop Tatum near McConnell Air Force Base about 2:30 a.m. Friday for a registration violation, spokesman Lt. Benjamin Blick said.

Tatum lost control when the motorcycle hit a median less than a half-mile from where the chase started.

He was thrown from the cycle and died at the scene.
