PHOENIX (AP) - A two-vehicle crash killed one driver and severely injured a pedestrian while interrupting light rail service in east Phoenix near Sky Harbor International Airport during the Tuesday morning commute, officials said.
A woman driving one vehicle was fatally injured in a collision with a second vehicle that witnesses said ran a red light, police said.
After the collision, one of the vehicles struck a pedestrian who was taken to a hospital with injuries considered life-threatening.
News video showed that both vehicles ended up on the rail tracks and it appeared that one struck a pole.
The light rail system instituted a bus bridge to transport train passengers between the 38th Street and 44th Street stations along Washington Street.
