FRANKLIN, Conn. (AP) - A 49-year-old woman was killed late Thursday when her car crashed head on into an ambulance in eastern Connecticut.

State police said Dawn Brett, of Willimantic, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Route 32 in Franklin.

The driver and a front seat passenger in the American Ambulance Service vehicle were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, troopers said.



State police said the ambulance was traveling northbound and Brett was traveling southbound when they collided in the northbound lane shortly before 11 p.m. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
