OPINION:
President Biden has jumped on another mass killing as an opportunity to push gun-control laws (“Biden eyes executive action to impose new gun control measures,” Web, March 23). Mr. Biden’s partner in crime, Barack Obama, has called those who oppose the laws they want “cowardly.” In my experience, those who call others names have no rational response.
The truth is that those places with the most stringent gun laws have the most killings. Look at the Democrat-run cities. Have their radical laws stopped the daily killings? No way. Have their gun laws stopped the killers and the mentally ill from getting guns? No way.
Since they know these facts, why do they push such radical laws? Hopefully, it is only so that they appear to be doing something. Sadly, however, it could be to cover up what is going on in their cities. This is scary; they want to violate our rights so they can have more control over people.
Instead of their “trigger-finger” snap response, these so-called progressives should wait for the facts and then ask the hard questions about what they failed to do to address the real problems: criminals, easy gun access outside of the law and the left’s failure to deal with mental illness.
