My heart goes out to the female athletes who have to compete against those with an unfair biological edge (“’Dispiriting’: Track star’s dream dashed by transgender rules,” Web, March 14). All parents and coaches know that teen boys’ testosterone levels increase at a higher rate than girls’.

It’s interesting to me that the organizations advocating for transgender athletes have no medical background. And it is disappointing that public officials ignore all the biological information that has existed for thousands of years. This is the misapplication of Title IX in so many ways. The Department of Justice stepping back is heartbreaking. Where is the justice for biological female athletes?

It’s a clear example of what happens when public policies are based on social trends. I grew up with six brothers in the 1970s, and there was never a time when any of us considered ourselves to be female athletes. So why are we as society targeting children with social experimentations? Why not target adult women’s college and professional sports? It would be interesting to hear their positions.

Also, what is going to stop a trans athlete from playing in one sport, changing their appearance and then playing in the same sport as the other gender? This is a joke and we need to stop confusing our children with a false societal-acceptance narrative. It’s very dangerous to their mental and emotional well-being.
