ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 9-year-old boy died when a dirt bike driven by his father crashed Sunday afternoon in Rochester.

Police have not identified either the father or the boy. The father has not been charged with a crime, though an investigation is ongoing, the Democrat and Chronicle reported.

The father was driving the dirt bike, went up on a walkway and lost control when the bike went down, police said. The child was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital, where he died.

Rochester Police Capt. Frank Umbrino said it appeared neither father or son were wearing helmets. The bike was similar to a motorcross bike, not a registered motorcycle or a bike powered by pedals.
