DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Davenport police on Tuesday identified an officer who shot a man during a chaotic chase following a robbery.

Police identified the officer as Nathaniel Missimer, who has worked for the department for more than two years.

The officer was on patrol Feb. 18 when he and other officers converged on a car driven by a man suspected in an armed robbery.

Police said the suspect rammed one of the squad cars before becoming stuck in a snowbank. The suspect and Missimer then exchanged gunfire, police said.

Police identified the injured suspect as Clarence Washington, 30, of Davenport. He was taken to Genesis Medical Center and released from the hospital on Feb. 24.

Washington is being held on charges not related to the robbery or chase.
