CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - Another law enforcement agency in Louisiana is now using body cameras to document their interactions with the public.

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann said his deputies were equipped Monday with the Axon Enterprise cameras. The new equipment includes 130 body-worn cameras, 50 cameras for marked police cars and new tasers, multiple news agencies reported.

The sheriff’s office said deputies who have received training are now using the cameras. Those include deputies in the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Bureau detectives, Special Investigations Division narcotics agents and parish courthouse security.

Pohlman said the cameras are “a good investment for the future of policing.”

“I feel in today’s world these cameras have become a necessity in law enforcement,” Pohlman said. “Having the cameras will provide our deputies with another tool to better do their jobs, and it also will promote transparency for everyone involved.”

Axon Enterprises also has provided computer software and a storage and records management system for the cameras and footage.
