OPINION:
It has long been the lot of the common folk that their leaders can lie, rob, steal and even kill without, in most instances, being called into account.
How I’d like, with no legal consequences to myself, to get rid of a few hundred people I don’t like before shuffling off my own mortal coil! I’m certain most people feel the same way — but we never act on those fantasies.
The Jan. 6 Capitol ’rioters’ had the motive and the opportunity to kill several public officials in one fell swoop. God knows that the George-Floyd-murder rioters could have stormed the whole town of D.C. and many other American cities and killed everyone who got in their way. But they didn’t. Meanwhile, our ’elected’ leaders make decisions that abuse and kill thousands of people each year.
Is there something different about politicians? Do they have some exotic knowledge that gives them the power to commit felonious crimes without going to jail or even feeling any guilt for their misdeeds?
